Higher education and the pandemic

The interesting thing about working in higher education is change is slow, and when it happens, we all throw our hands up and get dizzy about the potential for additional workload, often uncompensated. The COVID-19 Pandemic (it's capitalized for a reason) changed all that. Sure, our workload dramatically increased when institutions, businesses, and life as we know it changed in a matter of days, but we kept moving along. Seriously, stuff got done, people made plans, followed through with those plans, and reached out to colleagues, friends, and loved ones to insure their safety and well-being. 

Congratulations to my colleagues who really stepped up to the challenge. I will always remember your efforts to help faculty and staff, but more importantly, you prioritized reaching out to students and the community. I am so grateful to be connected to you through Cabrillo!

So moving along now, in this frenetic, yet solemn, shelter-in-place environment, a very small part of my workload is to revive this website as a professional resource. Our institution provided faculty webspace for over 20 years, and that perk is being discontinued. Like most of us, my personal digital footprints are in social media, including shared photo libraries, and travel stories on my personal site. All that personal content has been erased, and my college resources will soon reside in this site. You may find a travel photo or two surface like the one below.
