"The experience of natural spaces, brimming with greenish light, the smells of soil and the quiet fluttering of leaves in the breeze can calm our frenetic modern lives."
—Jonathan Lambert, Science Intern at NPR

I'm a slug and proud of it—I have a degree in biology from UC Santa Cruz and a masters in educational technology from San Jose State University. In a former life I was a dental hygienist and clinical coordinator. In 1997, I helped open the Teaching and Learning Center at Cabrillo College and directed the distance education program for over 20 years. I also taught summer digital media online classes, and provided state-wide faculty professional development. I retired in 2021 after 28 years teaching in higher ed.

Today I volunteer as a docent in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Because of this wonderful experience in the redwoods, I also completed the UC Climate Steward certification program to enhance discussions with the community about climate change.

My favorite activities (besides hanging out with grandkids) are guided-hikes, leading school groups, and interacting with people in the Visitor's Center.
